there's no real
love in you
Monday, December 31, 2007 @ 11:30 AM

Hey guys, it's New Year's Eve!
Last day of 2007, to be exact.

Later I'm going to watch a movie with Samantha, HL, Henry, Jasmine, and her friend BEAN.

Jas has decided to watch this show called Across The Universe.

It's described as a 'psychedelic love story with Beatles songs infused in it'.

To tell the truth, I don't watch much love movies nowadays cos I don't believe in them. Well, not in the proper word 'Love', that is, I very much still believe in true love and that there is a special individual for each of us somewhere out there.

I just somehow find that love movies are surreal and to an extent, somewhat over-exaggerated.

Yea baby, in real life, love don't happen that way.

Some deeply in love couples might pause and tell me here, that love is a beautiful and sacred thing and it keeps them in bliss, etc.

Well, it is true, for a while that is.

The truth and reality about love is that much of it doesn't really last like that for very long and the afterwards is based on more of aspects like honesty, trust and faith.

For example. Without honesty, it's hard for you to place trust in your partner, and without trust, how would you have the faith to carry on?

We are all aware that while being in love, there might be someone better for you somewhere out there. You might be with your boyfriend for a certain period of time but suddenly one day you meet a more interesting and better-looking guy.

The truth is that, despite knowing that there will always be people who are better for you out there, you are comfortable and happy with what you have right now.

I realised this after my previous relationship. Sometimes, absence makes the heart grow fonder but other times it can just work the other way.

Hell. There's always the temptation of finding someone better out there, but why do some couples stick together for a long time?

Anyway, we are gonna watch this show called Across The Universe and I hope I don't fall asleep later . I decided to go for the show only because Jasmine, my bestfriend wants to watch it and I'll accomodate her. After all, when was the last time we watched a movie in our group of 4? :)

Really like that feeling of having someone to share popcorn and nachos with. :D

The last love show that I watched was The Lakehouse in sec 3 with the same group of people, except Henry and Bean weren't there.

And I really slept halfway during the show, despite my efforts to open my eyes wide and listen to the beautiful dialogue.

I mean, how absurd is a love story where the man meets a woman in a different time zone and has to travel through time to marry her?

It was kinda boring to me.

I find it hard to keep awake during shows that are not 'real', like fantasies and cartoons. When I watched The Golden Compass with Henry, Aaron, James and Raphael and I couldn't help feeling my eyelids getting heavy after I found out that the characters actually have animals walking around them as their 'souls'.

And I fell asleep halfway while the guys kept awake and actually watched the show till its end.

I think my childhood imagination has died. :(

Well, the only cartoon I have ever liked was Shrek and still is. :)
Heh. At least Shrek is still funny and watchable.

Okay, since it's New Year's Eve I shan't be a sport and spoil all our imaginations as well.

I can't wait to watch fireworks with the friends I love! Kinda relish the fact that the people I enjoy spending time with are gonna be with me on the last day of this year.

I'll post a video of fireworks when I return! And I know I haven't posted pictures of Penang yet but I promise I will.

Do it.

Hehh. Just kinda lazy to do it nowadays.

I was just reading through some of my old blog entries when I came across this particular memorable one.

I wrote this for my senior when her mom passed away.
Although we don't talk often now, and she's over in Hong Kong, this entry reminded me of her.

I miss her.

Year 2005

My heart is too weak for any other shocks - the death of peace's mom as well as my distant relative (uncle's wife's mom) have all been too sudden. Although they are not very close to me, and I've stopped talking to peace as often already. In fact I've only met my distant relative once.

Somehow I just feel like crying. Especially for peace, she was my band buddy last year. She is also the friendliest and kindest senior I've known. We were very close in the previous years before she left for JC, although our conversation is now only limited to online chats and when we do meet in person, it's just a smile 'hi' and 'bye' thing.

I flipped through the school magazine a few days back, and saw her face in the graduating alumni of Sec 4 '2004. She was grinning in her usual cheerful way, and I thought nothing of it before flipping to the next page. Who would have known? I didn't expect such a thing to happen to her, and whats more she's a genuinely nice person. She treasures relationships alot, almost in the same way as I do.

How can such a thing happen to her?

I feel the hurt.

While talking to her yesterday, I couldn't take it anymore. I actually broke down and cried, after hearing what she's been through. I didn't sob, but the tears flowed down my face freely. In a way I also felt blessed that I still have my mom with me, my dearest mommy, to protect and care for me. I'm still a child at heart in many ways. I tend to be naive and gullible at times.

I can't forget the times in Sec 1 when I first joined band, a fresh-faced girl unfamiliar with her surroundings. She helped me, joked and talked to me. I still remembered reading the first letter that she wrote to me, and how she told me that she would treat me just like her very own younger sister. I remembered looking up to her for her talent in percussion, and admiring her passion for music. I remembered the many crazy conversations we had, making up stories and thinking of quirky names. I remembered looking up to her for inspiration.

Undeniably she was my source of inspiration.

I remembered her devotion towards SC band, and how none of it has changed, even though she's left for JC ever since.

She still makes a point to ask me about events every time we meet online.

She always comes back to support us for every performance that we've done.

She feels the joy and jubilation for us after every successful performace.

You'll always be with us, peace.

I want to hug her and comfort her, but all I can do is talk to her.

I feel extremely, extremely sad. I don't know how this feeling is so hard to explain. But if I were to place myself in her shoes, I would be equally crushed if something like that happened to my mom or a loved one.

I don't even want it to happen.

All I can say now is. Learn to let go of things, peace. Cry your heart out this instant and repair the emotional damage, but you'll re-emerge as a stronger person.

Nows the time to grieve and feel the pain, but life still goes on.

It always comforts me to think that peace's mom is high up all the way in heaven, watching over her and protecting her. She will be watching over dear peace like a guardian angel, and offering her love and support.

I'll always be there for you. =)

Yup Peace, I hope you're doing fine in HK now.

I'll always remember you as one of the most caring people that I've met in my life.

Sorry for my lack of updates, I was busy with band pracs and concert rehearsals lately.

Harmonie was good, but I think we were pretty burnt out from playing and couldn't produce what we intended to during concert. But anyway, I'm glad that I enjoyed myself and made some new friends.

I hope there's another AJ-CJ production again.

Now that concert is over, I can finally rest and enjoy what's left of my holidays. Haha.

I'm going to PENANG in 3 hours time! Can't wait.
Though it's gonna be a 10 hour bus ride.

Henry very kindly lent me his PSP but he gave me the USB cable which I couldn't figure out how to charge, and in the end the battery slowly died. So too bad. I think I'm going to rot in the tour bus.

Yar. I know. I am a total dummy when it comes to tech-related stuffs.

So sad. I can't play the Music DJ game. Heh.

I haven't been on holiday for kinda long since the Korea trip, though at first when I found out it was Penang (what is there to do), I was kinda disappointed but nonetheless, it's still a holiday!

I'm going swimming, fruit-picking, shopping and loads of eating!

Oh wells. I'm actually feeling so excited now. Haha.
I hope my excitement doesn't turn into Murphy's Law, like I get excited for nothing and when I reach there it's like BLAH.

And I will try my best to take pictures and get some stuffs back for my friends.

Take care in the meantime!

Emperor Chicken.

Every Sunday, I let my mom take a rest and I get some cooking done in the kitchen. I guess the only people who can cook in the family are my mom and I. Though I have a maid, she can't really cook well so mostly, she does household chores like washing dishes and laundry.

Anyway, this weekend I cooked Emperor Chicken. They usually do it in chinese restaurants, but it costs more expensive if you eat it outside.

I love to eat things that are wrapped up, whether it's plain banana leaves or with alumnium foil, I believe it gives the food better flavour. Or maybe it's just psychological. I love unwrapping the food like it's a present. Haha.

Making emperor chicken is fairly easy and it tastes pretty damn good.

Haha. Here is the recipe, you can try it out if you wanna.

Ingredients List
1 whole chicken (about 0.9-1.3 kg)
500 ml water
Red Dates
Wolf berries
Dang Gui
Dang Shen
1 sheet of HDPE plastic wrapper
1 sheet of aluminium foil

1. Bring out all ingredients, and arrange neatly.

2. Wash and clean chicken. Remove its head and legs, and set aside.

3. Bring 500ml of water to boil, and add in the herbs! Cook for 15 minutes.

4. Place chicken on plastic wrapper with aluminium foil on the outside. Apply the salt, pepper and spices mix onto the skin and inside of the chicken. Massage it in and leave chicken to marinate for 20 minutes.

5. Pour in a little of cooked herbs mixture inside the chicken, and leave some outside as a soup. Place some of your herbs inside the chicken. Wrap the whole damn thing!

6. Place the bundle on a steaming dish (I used Pyrex glass). Steam on slow heat for 2 hours, no less.

After 2 hours~~

Yupp. The soup tastes really good, I love it! After 2 hours, it's cooked to just right and the meat is soft enough to slide off its bone. Hehh.

And eating.

You would readily promise me anything, and you make the world seem so beautiful, for 10 secs.
And each time I wait into eternity,
All I see is the lone moon in the sky above.

I don't want the moon, I don't want the stars, I don't want promises about things that will come but never do.

I know you're not good with words, you never were
When I'm with you
There's no need for me to play with a blind man's card.

You do understand, don't you?

Am I Old Or What.

Just found out that the ever catchy Gatsby commercial song "I Can Give You Gatsby", is a spin-off from an oldie by The Stylistics - I Can't Give You My Love.

Love it. Especially the ascending trumpet solo at the first part, but the video couldn't show it well.

This one can.

I'm having a really bad outbreak these days, seriously!

WTH. Must be due to the fluctuating weather from hot to cold, my sensitive skin seriously can't take to these kinda temperature changes.

Yes, I have very sensitive skin. Which turns pink if someone purposely presses it. Haha.

I thought ALL the pimples would be gone in a few days, but seriously that's not happening.

I applied some drug-store pimple cream this morning instead of my usual doctor's prescription (cos I finished it) and the troubled area totally flared up! Now it looks damn red and angry.

Out of Reach.

Knew the signs
Wasn't right
I was stupid for a while
Swept away by you
And now I feel like a fool
So confused,
My heart's bruised
Was I ever loved by you?

Out of reach, so far
I never had your heart
Out of reach,
Couldn't see
We were never
Meant to be

Catch myself
From despair
I could drown
If I stay here
Keeping busy everyday
I know I will be OK

But I was
So confused,
My heart's bruised
Was I ever loved by you?

Out of reach, so far
I never had your heart
Out of reach,
Couldn't see
We were never
Meant to be

So much hurt,
So much pain
Takes a while
To regain
What is lost inside
And I hope that in time,
You'll be out of my mind
And I'll be over you

But now I'm
So confused,
My heart's bruised
Was I ever loved by you?

Out of reach,
So far
I never had your heart
Out of reach,
Couldn't see
We were never
Meant to be

Out of reach,
So far
You never gave your heart
In my reach, I can see
There's a life out there
For me

Longevity Buns

Since I was young, I loved to eat these buns.
Whadd'ya call them?

Oh yeahh.

I always bit off the top part before eating it. Haha.

Cos' whenever I saw them, one thing came to my mind: BOOBS!

Seriously. They look like boobies. Food porn.

Delicious, warm and sticky lotus paste rolled into steamy dough.
Yep, food porn alright.

I love Rocky Road Ice Cream!

Here are the reasons why I absolutely love Rocky Road ice cream. No matter how many different flavours of ice cream I've tried, how many different brands, or how expensive the brands, I always come back to the single one.

I guess the main reason why I love Rocky Road should be because of it's marshmallows. I am a follower of marshmallows. They're just tiny, soft and chewy melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Little angels in white.

Another thing that I love about Rocky Road is its nuts.

I'm nuts over nuts in a chocolate ice cream.

Any kind of nuts, I just relish the idea of nuts rolled and blended in thick and creamy ice cream.

Lastly, if most of you don't know, I love chocolate to bits.

Most of my friends used to buy me chocolate, for anything. I just love chocolate for it's bitter-sweet taste and extremely rich and deep flavour.

Warm and sticky

I simply cannot live off chocolate.

Chocolate is my ultimate comfort food. Crazy as it sounds, it actually makes me happier when I'm feeling dumpy. Yep, it's true, as most of you know, chocolates release endorphins into your body which aid in lifting your spirits.

Besides, as some of you might also know, chocolate is also an aphrodisiac and dark chocolate is a cancer-fighting agent.

So, what's there not to love about this sweet treat?

Whenever you see me buying ice cream, I'll surely choose a chocolate flavour. Even if I buy more than one flavour, chocolate will be included.

Yep. So the idea of my 3 wonderful ingredients, carefully rolled, folded and tumbled into good Rocky Road ice cream just makes me wanna have it everytime.

I gotta have my Rocky Road.

Can you name 13 of ur friends that you can think of right off the top of your head?
Don't read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 13 people.
This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first.
No cheating!

1. Jasmine
2. Samantha
3. Xueli
4. Hanlin
5. Michelle Lai
6. Laura
7. Kelly
8. Phoebe
9. Henry
10. Yong Di
11. Michelle Pung
12. Shermann
13. Lilian

How did you meet 10?
In Band. He was playing eupho and once I heard of his name, I thought it was kinda unique cos I never heard a name like that before. Haha.

What would you do if you had never met 1?
If I never met one, I wouldn't even have the bestest girl friend in the world. :)

What would you do if 6 and 2 dated?
2 has a boyfriend already and so I don't think they would date each other. Kinda interesting though, lesbian relationship. Maybe 2 can turn bisexual.

Have you ever seen 4 cry?

Do you think 10 is cute?
Yes. Cute and interesting in his own way.

How did you get to know 8?
Band as well. Lol.

Would you ever go on a date with number 12?
NOPE. Haha!! He's fun to go out with in a group though.

What's 7's favourite colour?
Through the number of years that I know her, I guess it should be PURPLE?

What would you do if 6 confessed he/she loves you?
She told me that she loves me before. No big deal. I was like, "Okay, I love you too!"

Fact about 9:
Most number of moles I've seen on a person.

Who is 4 going out with?
Not sure. But I know that she likes people like Wentworth Miller, who is unfortunately not straight.

Who is number 5 to you?
Ex church mate whom I could confide in and click very well with. Used to go to her house to choose clothes for her and made crepes. We didn't use to be close in Secondary school, though.

Would you ever live with 13?
ERM.. maybe (: But I bet Hong Chow would kill me.

Is 2 single?
Nope, she has a Thai boyfriend :D

What do you think about 3?
A very strong-willed and outspoken girl. Don't get in her way, or else.

What's the best thing about number 8?
Responsible and extremely caring. It shows in her actions. She would make a good wife.

What do you like about number 11?
She's a deep thinker like me who often ponders about Life. I used to enjoy just sitting down and having 1 hr chats with her in the MRT station before going home.

Favorite Memory with 6?
She loved horses, like me. She was my first best friend. I remember when we were photo-taking as a class and she almost fell down from the chair, I held her up . Haha. From that day onwards, we became really close.

Blossom Teas.

I was just surfing the net, when I discovered this wonderful thing.

They're really beautiful and magical.

Have you ever heard of, blossoming teas?

They're basically green tea leaves and flower petals hand-woven into the form of tiny balls.

Looks a little bit like elephant's poo at first.

There are various names for it – Buddha’s Eyes / Balls / Tears, Dragon Pearls or Flowers, Bouquet Tea, Artisan Tea, Performance Tea etc.

We drop them into a glass of hot water or a kettle to infuse them.

When infused, the tea rosette immediately unfurls into a delicate blossoming flowery shape.

As each ball unfolds, it reveals a hidden blossom.

Longing Heart

3 Flower Burst

Dragon 4 Flowers

The cool thing is, it unfolds right in front of your eyes. It's like watching a miniature flower submerged in water, bloom in front of you.

Humans just have this obsession with size, whether big or small.
It's amazingly stunning, beautiful and weird at the same time.

These flowers have been known to give the tea a light, sweet and refreshing aftertaste. They are not as strong as the common Lipton tea that we drink. It also gives off the natural aroma of jasmine when the ball unfurls.

I think they would make really cute gift ideas.

I found it right here, at Dragonwater Tea. (US)
Haha. Makes me wanna buy some for my Mom.
