Tuesday, October 30, 2007 @ 10:19 PM Sometimes, the way people talk may not be the way they carry themselves when they are with you. Have you experienced that before? I have. Yesterday, I went to meet the seller of the item which I ordered online. Yup, she's a girl. The reason why I agreed to meet up with her to collect the item, although she's a stranger is cos: 1) She's a girl. (Not a guy) 2) Our meet up place was in Tampines MRT The meet up place was fine, at least it's not a secluded and private area where she could just take my money and run away, it's at a big open and very crowded public venue. We agreed to meet at 630pm, and it was peak hour time, just the time that people return home from work. Also, I was going to meet my project group at Bedok, so that's really convenient for me. I wouldn't have to bother about extra charges like the postage fee. When she replied my order email the other day, she gave me her phone number. ![]() I noticed that she told me to SMS her, so I did. I told her what time and date I wanted to meet, and asked her where exactly was most convenient for her. She replied, outside Guardian. At first, from her messages she sounded really sincere and kind, like a really sweet sounding lady. Her SMSes were peppered with ^_^ and [: or (: Judging from the way she talked, and the way she asked me questions like, "You still in school?", "Still schooling?" and "How's school life?", I would have thought she was about 20 plus. On my way there, we exchanged conversation through SMS, and I thought she was really cheerful, personable and friendly. I couldn't wait to meet up with her, to see how she was like. However, when I met up with her - I realised I made a mistake! The last SMS she sent me was, "What colour top are you wearing?" so that she could recognise me. I replied, orange with a white cardigan. When I went up to Guardian, and waited at exactly 7pm, I realised that I was the only one there. I was looking out for a lady.. "Hmmm, have you reached yet?" I messaged her. "Yup, I'm here already. ^^" she sent back. I looked around. And suddenly, I saw a really petite girl come up to me. She looked about Sec 1. She came up to me and looked up to me, and suddenly, when I always knew that I was very short, I felt quite tall. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" I apologised, not really knowing what to say. "I didn't know you were here, So... This is the item?" She looked at me wide-eyed as though I was silly for asking such a dumb question, yah of course this is the item lah, else I pass to you for what? "Erm, it's 5.90 right?" I double-confirmed. I looked into my wallet and checked. "Just right, I have the exact amount!" She took the money, handed me the item and walked away. I immediately walked off too, kinda awkwardedly but not really wanting to be there cause the whole situation seemed so awkward. Haha. After I walked off, I opened the package and checked it. Yup, it was right. Oh wells. What an unusual first time meeting, just to collect my purchase. I might ask for mail postage next time. |
